The word holistic, sometimes spelled wholistic, is a multi discipline approach that covers the “whole” spectrum of treatment choices from modern western medicine to acupuncture, exercise, and chiropractic. As such, it will have a better chance of a successful outcome. One could describe holistic as a combination therapy.
At The League Foundation for Holistic Health and Fitness (www.LeagueFit.com), we take into account the individual’s physical, mental, and even social condition rather than simply looking at the illness alone. We believe exercise and nutrition to be vital elements to any long-term health maintenance program. We believe exercise is medicine. The types of exercise can be looked at Holistically as well, using a combination of approaches such as walking, jog/walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga, running in water, and weight training. This flexible cross training health care reduces the risk of overuse injury and helps keep the person motivated. We focus on long-term lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.
Experience and our individualized/hands-on client approach make us different from other weight loss or training programs. We go out into the community and work with those persons that truly need help but could never afford the expense of personal training or gym membership.
